Applications are open for an ILESLA-Pirbright studentship.
This is a jointly funded studentship between the ILESLA programme and the Pirbright Institute. The successful applicant will participate fully in all aspects of ILESLA training, including the initial period of training at Oxford, rotations and the mandatory 12 week internship, but will be required to choose a substantive doctoral project that has a group leader at the Pirbright Institute as the primary supervisor. Students should therefore expect to be primarily based at the Pirbright Institute for their doctoral research but will also have a co-supervisor at one of the ILESLA partner universities and may have a co-supervisor at one of the other hosting partners or with one of our Open-IIC or collaborative partners.
This studentship opportunity is suitable for applicants with research interests in the research areas addressed at the Pirbright Institute, which carries out research to predict, detect, understand, and respond to livestock and zoonotic viral diseases. It is therefore particularly suitable for applicants with interests in virology, immunology and the use of transformative technologies for the diagnosis, study and prevention of viral diseases and immune responses.
This is a fully-funded 4-year studentship commencing in September 2025. However, we regret that we can only offer funding to applicants that are eligible to pay home fees.
